No one has done more to protect nature and the environment, save endangered species and promote the development of environmentally friendly technologies than people of European descent, and no one else comes close.

If Francis is concerned about the health of the planet*, perhaps the Catholic Church should stop imposing a ban on birth control in Africa, where there is unsustainable population growth that will soon become a human and environmental catastrophe.

But hey, no worries. Catholic charities will bring them all to the West. On the one hand, the Vatican says that our consumption patterns in the first world are destroying the earth, on the other hand, we are morally compelled to bring all of Africa into our countries, because many more people have no right to do so without ever having done anything for it. have the same consumption pattern.

Pope Francis issued his strongest statement yet on the accelerating climate crisis in a blistering statement on Wednesday, blaming major industries and world leaders as well as "irresponsible" Western lifestyles.

“Our responses have not been adequate, while the world we live in is collapsing and possibly approaching the breaking point,” the pope wrote in a 7,000-word encyclical called Laudate Deum (“Praise God”).

“Some consequences of the climate crisis are already irreversible, at least for several hundred years, such as the increase in global ocean temperatures, their acidification and the decrease in oxygen,” he wrote.

The Pope strongly criticized climate change deniers.

“Despite all attempts to deny, hide, obscure or downplay the issue, the signs of climate change are becoming increasingly visible. Climate change is likely to get worse and ignoring it will “increase the likelihood of extreme events becoming more frequent and intense,” he wrote.

The Pope paid particular attention to the disproportionate responsibility of rich countries for climate change.

“If we consider that emissions per individual in the United States are about twice as high as those of individuals living in China, and about seven times as high as the average of the poorest countries, we can say that a broad change in the irresponsible lifestyle associated with the Western model, would have a significant long-term impact,” he wrote.

The pope's statement follows his 2015 encyclical Laudato Si ("Praised be to you"), the first-ever papal writing devoted entirely to ecological issues, which have been a cornerstone of his papacy.
